Knowing when to go to your Primary Care provider, Urgent Care, or Emergency Department is important so you can get the right treatment quickly and avoid extra costs or waiting.

Primary Care

Schedule an appointment with a Frederick Health Primary Care provider for non-urgent care and treatment. Primary Care providers know your medical history and are your partners in maintaining good health and wellness. They are the best place to start for routine care, including:

  • Back pain (not severe)
  • Cold/flu
  • COVID-19 symptoms
  • Earache
  • Headache/migraine
  • Rash
  • Routine health and wellness needs
  • Sore throat
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Urgent Care

Urgent Care treats non-life-threatening health concerns needing immediate attention, when your primary care provider may be unavailable. Consider a same-day Urgent Care visit for symptoms such as:

  • Back pain (not severe)
  • Cold/flu
  • COVID-19 symptoms
  • Earache
  • Fever (Below 103°F)
  • Headache/migraine
  • Rash
  • Sore throat
  • Minor injuries (cuts, burns, sprains)
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Frederick Health Urgent Care provides walk-in care and Virtual Visit with no referral needed. In-person visits are available Monday-Friday 8:00am - 8:00pm; Saturday-Sunday 8:00am - 6:00pm.

Within an hour you can have a Virtual Visit with a trusted Frederick Health provider, available Monday-Friday 8:00am - 7:00pm; Saturday-Sunday 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Emergency Care

For life-threatening or disabling conditions, go to the nearest Emergency Department or dial 9-1-1. Frederick Health Hospital Emergency Department is located at 400 W 7th St, Frederick. Symptoms that may require Emergency Care include:

  • Broken bones or dislocated joints
  • Chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Deep cuts or severe burns with blisters
  • Domestic violence or rape
  • Fever over 103°
  • Mental health crisis
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Severe asthma attack
  • Slurred or loss of speech
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Head injuries, loss of consciousness, fainting, confusion, or seizures
  • Vision problems, such as double vision or loss of vision
  • Poisoning (Call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 for immediate home treatment advice)
  • Weakness or numbness on one side of the body
