Nursing Leaders Serving Our Community Beyond Patient Care

Nursing Leaders Serving Our Community Beyond Patient Care

The individuals and groups that go the extra mile to support and enrich their surroundings are at the heart of every thriving community. Frederick Health's Nursing Professional Development (NPD) team recently exemplified this spirit by volunteering for a meaningful cause in our community.

The Frederick City Adopt-A-Road Program, which began in the Fall of 2020, offers a platform for local community groups to demonstrate their pride in the city while contributing to its upkeep. This initiative not only keeps our roadways clear of litter but also plays an important role in maintaining the health of our waterways. The program encourages participants to adopt stretches of road and commit to regular clean-ups, helping to enhance both the visual appeal and environmental quality of our streets.

On a crisp and sunny Saturday morning, August 24, members of the Nursing Leadership team took to East Patrick Street with gloves, trash bags, and a strong sense of community spirit. The team worked diligently to pick up trash, making a difference in the area's cleanliness. Their efforts were met with heartfelt thanks from residents and local business owners, highlighting the positive impact of their service.

"It has been a great opportunity to further serve our community the past two years. Hearing a 'thank you,' seeing a smile or a wave while representing Frederick Health has made it an even more rewarding experience." said Mark Smith, Executive Assistant and Nursing Clinical Coordinator at Frederick Health.

By participating in the Adopt-A-Road program, members of the Frederick Health team have shown that there are many ways to support our mission to positively impact the well-being of every individual in our community goes beyond the medical care.
