Welcome the New Year Baby of 2025!

Allison entered the world at 12:11 a.m. on January 1, the start of the New Year. Aida was expecting her daughter around December 23 and thought she might arrive on Christmas instead.

When that didn't happen, new mom Aida, from Knoxville, went to Frederick Health Hospital on December 30 to induce labor. Allison, who weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces, was the hospital's first baby born in 2025.

The hospital sees about 3,000 births a year; whenever a baby is born, a lullaby plays throughout the building.

Speaking in Spanish through an interpreter, Aida said everything went smoothly during the delivery, and she felt great holding her daughter in the hospital room. She felt excited to welcome her first child. With help from her sister, Karla, and the nurses, Aida and baby Allison were set to head home to start their new life together. Aida looks forward to taking her daughter to the park and having new experiences.

Having a baby brings many changes and challenges. Parents often must care for their newborns while also managing other responsibilities. To help families during this busy time, Frederick Health partnered with Family Connects Frederick County. This free program connects families and their newborns with healthcare support and helps ensure they have essential postpartum appointments.
