With respiratory illnesses on the rise this year, getting a flu vaccine or a COVID-19 vaccine is the single best way to protect both yourself and your loved ones. In fact, they prevent millions of illnesses and flu-related doctors’ visits each year. Flu prevention is especially crucial for people with a high risk of developing serious flu complications, those who have had COVID-19, and other health factors. It is recommended that everyone six months of age and older get a flu vaccine every season with rare exceptions. We offer flu shots at the following locations:

Primary Care

Frederick Health Medical Group Primary Care patients aged six months and older can receive a flu shot by scheduling an appointment with their primary care provider. For more information and to stay up-to-date on your vaccinations visit your primary care provider.

Urgent Care

If you are not a current Frederick Health patient, we have you covered. Flu shots are also available to everyone at our Urgent Care locations in Frederick, Urbana, Emmitsburg and Brunswick —no waiting in line or appointment required. Children over the age of nine who have previously received a flu shot are eligible to receive the flu shot at our Urgent Care locations. Anyone over the age of 18 is also eligible.

Flu Vaccine FAQ's

Can I get a flu vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccine at the same time?

Yes, you can get a COVID-19 vaccine and a flu vaccine at the same time. Even though both vaccines can be given at the same visit, people should follow the recommended schedule for either vaccine: If you haven’t gotten your currently recommended doses of COVID-19 vaccine, get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as you can, and ideally get a flu vaccine by the end of October.

Is it safe to get a COVID-19 vaccine and a flu vaccine at the same time?

While limited data exist on giving COVID-19 vaccines with other vaccines, including flu vaccines, experience with giving other vaccines together has shown the way our bodies develop protection and possible side effects are generally similar whether vaccines are given alone or with other vaccines. Please speak with your health care provider if you have concerns about getting both vaccines at the same time.

Are you offering flu shots at any other locations?

Frederick Health is currently providing the flu vaccines through your primary care provider and at our four urgent care facilities. If you should have questions about a location not listed above, please reach out to your primary care provider directly.
