Outpatient Programs
Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program.
The Frederick Health Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program (PPHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (PPHP/IOP) provide treatment for adults with psychiatric disorders and co-occurring substance use disorders that require a higher level of care. They can prevent hospitalization or provide a “step down” from inpatient treatment. Our goals are to get patients stable and help them ease back into career, community, and family.

Patients work with a team of experts, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, who provide:
- Assessment
- Treatment planning
- Medication management
- Group, individual, and family therapy
- Educational groups
- Case management
- Transition and aftercare
The PPHP is a 5 day/week, 6.5 hours/day program. The IOP is 3–5-days/week, 3 hours/day, and is often a step down from the PPHP. On average, our patients stay in these programs between one and three weeks.
How to Access PPHP/IOP:
To be part of the PPHP or IOP, you will need a referral from the Frederick Health Emergency Department Crisis Management Services; the Frederick Health Behavioral Health Unit; other inpatient psychiatric facilities; or outpatient psychiatrists and therapists in the community.
