Chest pain can signify a broad range of conditions from minor causes such as acid reflux to serious and life-threatening, such as a heart attack. Chest pain is one of the most common causes of emergency room visits in the United States. If you seek cardiac care at Frederick Health, our professionals will ask you questions about your history in order to help determine the reason for your chest pain. Other follow-up tests may include blood tests, CT scans, and X-rays.
Heart attack symptoms vary.
A heart attack can happen to anyone, but the signs and symptoms often vary
between men and women.
Chest pains are the most common symptom, but women can often experience
the following during a heart attack:
- Shortness of breath
- Indigestion
- Nausea
- Joint pain
- Back pain
Men often experience the following during a heart attack:
- Pain in the limbs
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Shortness of breath
