What Does a Hospitalist Do?
A hospitalist is a doctor who provides care for hospitalized patients. These physicians focus on care for all the areas affecting a patient’s hospitalization. Hospitalists manage specialist consults, ensuring that necessary tests are run, medications are ordered, and procedures are performed. Our hospitalists at Frederick Health are board certified internal medicine physicians.
We choose our hospitalists carefully from those affiliated with Sound Physicians. This corporation is responsible for providing hospitalist services for hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout the nation. Our hospitalists are always available for our hospitalized patients, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The benefits of hospitalist care include:
- 24 / 7 access and availability for hospitalized patients
- Supplementing the service of your primary doctor
- Immediate answers and assistance
- Point of immediate contact for family members and loved ones during hospitalization
- Coordinated and specialized care for patients
